Charles + Liv Summerville Engagement Session

Charles and Liv....ahhhh, such an inspirational love story.  I spoke to Charles on the phone (once) and I've emailed Liv once or twice.  I was expecting a nice couple, but was more than impressed with these two kind souls.  When I pulled into Rosebrock Park they were sitting side by side on a picnic table, looking adorable! I immediately felt like we were kindred spirits.  I'm super grateful they chose me to capture their moments for them.

Liv would had been content taking no pictures and chasing frogs and butterflies. Charlie would had been just as content watching her.  She is a real life Cinderella.  I picture her waking in the morning and summoning her animal friends with a soothing song.  She is a warm person and I really think I could hang out with her everyday.  You can tell these two have a real connection.  I love my job!!
Charles + Liv have been together for 8 years! I love when high school sweethearts make it to marriage.  It takes a certain kind of love to make it through high school, college, first jobs, moving etc.  These are my favorite kind of love stories.
Originally from Ohio but currently residing in Charleston, they will be saying their vows at the beautiful Magnolia Plantation + Gardens (I was also married there!) in November.  I am counting down the days until the wedding!!
Charlie proposed to Liv in Texas, after a few funny tries : ).  She was not expecting it. : )

When I see the love depicted from Charles and Liv taking a simple walk in the park, I am       reminded of a quote that I've always loved...

"Do small things with great love."

-Mother Teresa.

With that I leave you....

Stay tuned for part II in November!

John + Scott; Grand Haven, MI - Part I

I was so excited when John + Scott booked their wedding with JW Picture Studio!  I knew from the first moment that I spoke to John, that this would be a very special wedding for me.  John and his partner, Scott, are perfectly paired and they come with the perfect package of awesome family and friends.  I was a bit jealous that I was the photographer and not just a guest!

Part I - Pre-wedding shoot at the Grand Haven Lighthouse:

This was my first in person meeting with John and Scott.  I was nervous but excited to meet everyone, and super excited that John's gorgeous kids, Sean and Sarah came along with.
It was rainy most of the day and I was afraid the weather would not hold up long enough to get good shots.  Man, it was beautiful, but VERY windy.  Water was blowing everywhere when we reached the pier to the lighthouse.  John and Scott were not intimidated by the wind or the water, thank goodness, because these two got some great shots!
Here are few outtakes from the session.
In between all of the great shots, this is what we were dealing with!  No biggie, they were game.  I loved that!
Did I mention what a great Dad John is?  He carried Sarah's shoes, helped her change from her heels to her flats, okay pretty much changed them for her, and sent her back to the car when we realized how windy it was.  It was heartwarming to watch.

Stay tuned for Part II of this love story.

Stefanie + Jonathan - Engagement At Millennium Park

I knew as soon as I saw Tia, all decked out with her pretty collar, that I wanted to take these photos.

Stefanie and Jonathan have an obvious love for each other.  The kind of love that takes you on a stroll down your own memory lane.  Seeing them brought back the feelings I had before I was married, when I met my husband and knew that this was different.  Excited and scared about all the unknowns but confident in our love and strength. I could see the same thing in these two.
This was all at first glance.  I had no idea what a beautiful story these two have!  They've been together four years in October.  Stefanie remembers the first time they held hands, under a projector full of multi-colored stars.  Thier first deep conversations were under the stars. Even to this day Stefanie says when she holds his hand under the stars is when she feels the most connected to him.
Tia is their baby.  You can totally tell this when you first meet them.  She's not a pet, she's family.  I can understand why, she was one of the sweetest dogs I've ever met.
I am so in love with these rings.  They are Irish with matching symbols.  Very unique.

In the next five years, they hope to own a home and start a family. They're not really sure how many kids they want, but Stefanie knows she wants to be a mother more than anything. I can tell she will be a great one! Jonathan is excited about the dream of kids too. Even though neither one of them have perfect past (none of us do) they are excited about figuring stuff out together.  "He's definitely my safety net, and I don't think I could do it without him...."
I asked Stefanie for a quote that would sum up their relationship. This is the what she left me with...

"I have seen the best of you, and the worst of you. And I choose both."
